The
Virginia General Assembly
approved two fee changes that will take effect July 1, 2017.
- Jurisdictions in which open-space easements are held by the
Virginia Outdoors Foundation - $1.00 recordation fee imposed on each
instrument or document recorded in the proper book for filing of land
records.
- Jurisdictions with an electronic filing system for land
records – Up to $5.00 per paper document filed in the land records
may be assessed by the Clerks.
Due
to the ongoing interpretation of this new legislation by the individual
jurisdictions, not all jurisdictions have determined the fees that they will
impose. The majority of the jurisdictions have indicated that they will make a
determination by July 1, 2017. Based on this information, we anticipate having
the state stamp tables available for distribution the week of July 3rd.
To prepare for this
fee change, you may complete and submit an order form now to receive the new
state tables upon availability. Customers with a current Software Services
Subscription can purchase updated state tables at a cost of $50 for each set of
tables.
