What a fantastic event! This is probably the most informative day I have spent in a seminar in a very long time. 53 agents/abstractors from 17 states were in attendance. After an update from ALTA representatives about their initiatives regarding regulation, an excellent presentatinonof the new RESPA changes was made by Mary Schuster, a member of the RESPA Implementation task force. She was very clear in the problems surrounding the new rule and explained how ALTA is approaching HUD with the issues that are unclear or conflicting. Many of these issues affect the new HUD-1. As we continue our development of this new form, we will work with ALTA to stay abreast of the clarifications that HUD will be issuing. I will post specifics of the gray areas under the new rule shortly. This is a topic that affects everyone.
In the afternoon session, a town hall meeting was held. Because the attendees were from such differing areas, they were free to talk about competition and how they get new business. The first topic was social media networking and how they use Twitter, Facebook and Linked In to stay in touch with their customers. Are you twitting?
